When I was younger, I used to visit my grandparents in Germany every summer for weeks at a time. One of the ways my mom tried to keep me entertained—as weird as it may seem, a 12-year old spending weeks on end in a small village has a tendency to get a little bored—was to send me to school to make friends. I remember at the end of my week-long stint in the German school, my mom would bake a German Linzertorte for me to share with my classmates, as a sort of thank you for allowing me to disrupt their class.
One year, after everyone had their piece, I ended up with half a Linzertorte left on my walk back home. My two closest friends and I started walking home, looked down at the half-eaten cake, and then back at each other. We found a bench, sat down, and ate the rest of the cake, giggling and sharing memories of the fun week together as we ate. This is the feeling I want to invoke with my sweet treats: the feeling of warmth, belonging, and simple joys that comes from shared moments, unhurried laughter, and the comfort of enjoying a homemade treat together.
I’ve seen firsthand how food can bring people together, and I’m excited to create that same experience for you. Sharing in those moments isn’t always easy when food restrictions are involved, and many times what’s supposed to bring people together can end up isolating them instead. So, my goal is to make gluten-free treats that everyone can enjoy without awkward explanations or compromises, just really good cookies meant to be shared.

All Kyra Bakes Cookies treats are made with 100% gluten-free ingredients. However, the bakery is not a dedicated gluten-free facility. Kyra Bakes Cookies operates as a home bakery under Tennessee Cottage Food Law, meaning the kitchen is not exclusively gluten-free.
I take cross-contamination very seriously and thoroughly clean all equipment, tools, and work surfaces multiple times before baking. While every effort is made to minimize the risk of cross-contact, I cannot guarantee that products are completely free from trace amounts of gluten.
